What is Meditation?
Meditation is a holistic discipline by which the practitioner attempts to get beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness.
I have personally found meditation practice to be especially helpful with enabling me to stay more focused within the present moment. When we are fully present in the here and now, then we are living life more fully. This is definitely a daily choice and like any other skill, it must be practiced on a consistent basis in order to feel the positive effects.
During my meditation classes, I use some of the following meditations to assist my students with dealing with everyday stress:
Mindfulness Meditation
Loving-Kindness Meditation
Relaxation for Pain Management
Chakra Meditation
Walking Meditation
I also incorporate Reiki and gentle massage into these classes.
